Ople Shoes Project
An initiative of Ople Center President Susan V. Ople. The inspiration from this project sprung from an anecdote of the late Blas F. Ople. When Ka Blas graduated from High School as a valedictorian, they were so poor that they had to borrow from a well-off relative a pair of shoes just so he can wear one. The borrowed shoes was so ill fitting but he still had to wear them because he hasn’t got a single pair of shoes.
-
The project began in July 2006 with an initial beneficiary of 20 school children in Hagonoy and Paombong in Bulacan.
-
The program was featured in the front page of Phillipine Daily Inquirer’s Christmas Day 2006 issue.
(attached are the lists of beneficiaries)

Book Drive
-
When we were giving shoes to far-flung elementary schools, we realized that their libraries needed new books as well. So we are currently conducting a book drive to give them that.
-
The students of the Ateneo Law School generously donated 3 boxes of books that we can give away this summer.
-
-
We plan to continue and expand our computer literacy program, hopefully with the continued support of OWWA, the De La Salle Computer Society and a major sponsor.
